One week that went by really fast!!!

In Spain this week we have had our Holy Week, the equivalent to Spring Break. We normally go out and watch processions, so I have not had a lot of time to do my my homework.

Firstly, we started by taking a look at different search-engines and search-web pages. I found some of them quite useful, above all, Bing, iSeek and Columbia Encyclopedia. The feedback that some colleagues gave on the different webpages was quite useful.

This week we also learned about ABCD objectives. In my view, it is a fantastic way to state objectives in a straight and clear way. I think that it is a good way for students to understand what our expectations are and to know exactly what they have to do and how they are going to be graded. It is incredible how one simple thing can help us so much!

I took a look at different posts on NiceNet related to ABCD objectives and Class descriptions and I was so excited to see that we all share the same needs, curiosities and even problems. I remember when I went to work in Texas as a Spanish teacher and my students asked me about teenagers in Spain. I used to tell them that they had a lot in common, they had the same problems, the same hobbies, likes, etc. It is the same with teachers!!! We have a lot in common and what is more, we can help one another a lot sharing what we know and what we want to know!!!

We have started to set the foundations of our project, yay!!! I am looking forward to it! I spent some time thinking about the class that I would choose and I decided on 4º ESO B (4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education). My challenge is going to be to implement technology in the class so that they learn how to use new tools that make them interested in getting a good product when working on the Integrated Unit with Math, Spanish, French, Social Studies and PE. I know it is a big challenge, but I am ready to go for it!!!

  1. Hello Adriano Lopez,
    Greetings from Nepal!
Like yours I also had a very busy schedule this week. I had to go to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal to attend Lion's National Convention. Yes, we have a wonderful community of teachers and I am learning from all.
As I am quite a raw hand in the world of Internet, this weeks assignment were exciting, interesting and challenging for me.
Nicenet discussions have taught me a lot and motivated towards learning.
It was first time I heard about ABCD objectives and I have found it really insightful and inspiring. I am going to share it among my colleagues.
I hope to learn a lot from you.

  2. Hi Adriano!
I share the same views - we can help each other as teachers and our students are dispersed around the globe but have many things in common.
This week really went by fast and I'm also starting to think about possible webtools for our project.
